See you in March !
mmmm, to curl up with a good book (or even a wonderful cookbook with all sorts of inspiring ideas), a cup of tea and some soft music . . . . inviting, yes? Maybe some nice raspberry jam tarts or one or two lucious lemon bars to nibble on. A plump content cat lazing nearbye would not be unwelcome.
Sometimes I think I should have been born British. I don’t drink coffee. Not at all. But tea and me are fast friends, inseparable really. Oh, I know it is a one way relationship. I take great pleasure from a cup of tea, and the tea is more than willing to give me comfort. It is a give-take relationship; the tea does all the giving and I do all the taking.
tea cups and rose by HeyZee
My dad makes the best tea. I’ve tried making the same tea at my house and it is never the same. I’m not sure why. Maybe it is the ratio of tea to hot water, maybe the water itself. Regardless, the tea at my parents’ house always tastes better than at mine. Mom seems to think it’s because the tea there is made with love. I know my dad is spoiling me by making it . . . all I need do is call and say I am on my way over and he replies with “Okay, tea minus 20 minutes”. I arrive and as I’m walking up the staircase I can hear the distinctive sound of the teaspoon against the side of the teacup.
On summer mornings, my mom and I will take our cups of tea out into the garden. We comment over this rose bush and that patch of radishes before making our way over to the raspberries. There we will stand and pick fresh raspberries from the vine, still moist with morning dew, and pop them in our mouths between sips of Decaffeinated Earl Grey. The cat will wander by and pause for a scratch behind his ear before moving on to more important things like searching of the ultimate sunbeam.
Coffee seems so fast paced, so “rev-it-up”, while tea gives a feeling of tranquility and “relax-and-unwind”.
Truthfully, I could go for a cup right now. Care to join me?
A couple years back while I was travelling through Spain, I kept seeing women with these ornate and fanciful decorations in their hair. Not the traditional peinetas or flamenco hair combs worn by a senorita of high society, but something else that the Spanish women were carrying off with elegance and aplomb.
I believe Sarah Jessica Parker summed it up best as her character Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in the City - The Movie when she said,
s, then look no further than myrakim and Amie Noel Designs. Both are gorgeous for afternoon weddings in the garden . . or just afternoons in the garden for that matter. No wedding required.
Summer is here ! (sort of). The weather in Vancouver, BC has been a little mixed; mainly overcast but warm, with promising breaks in the cloud where the sun radiates through. Today was a sunny day, and I took the pleasure of sitting on the back veranda with some home made mango gelato and soaking up a little sun.Seaside Hair Clip by FlowersFrom Fatima

One of the colors I am drawn to this year for summer is teal. Somehow teal is telling me “sun” and “long walks along the beach” and “plenty of sun block”. Perhaps it has to do with my planned trip to Turks and Caicos next spring. Sun, surf . . .lazy afternoons in a hammock with the blue green waters as far as the eye can see.
Refreshing and sophisticated, the mix of blue and green give lighter teal a sweet feminine feel while the darker teal shades add lively sophistication.
To keep the soft, feminine qualities of soothing teal, try mixing this summer hue with lavender and pale pinks. A bright teal and pink create a sparkly clean, retro look. Make it art deco by pairing teal with white and black. Teal with gray or silver as well as terra cotta and light browns have a Southwestern (U.S.) flavor. Teal with orange or yellow creates a fresh, sporty look.
The color teal signifies trustworthiness, devotion and healing. It is also indicative of spiritual guidance and teacher.
If you are not sold on incorporating teal (or it's supposed property traits) as a full time addition to your wardrobe, I've included some great examples with links for you to add just a bit of Teal Appeal.
